Director's Corner

LOVE

by Mrs. Donna

In February, all around us, we are reminded to tell our friends and family how much we love them by our words and actions. This is usually pretty easy to do with our friends and family because we know that they love us, too. But what about those who hurt us or talk ill about us ...

Valentine Fieldtrip to the Post Office

Thursday, February 10

On Friday, February 3 remember to bring in a stamped, envelope (the standard business size), addressed to a family member or friend who your child would like to send a Valentine to this year. Then on Friday, February 10 we will take a field trip to the post office where your children can mail their letters.

With e-mail being so popular now, U.S. "snail-mail" is fun thing to do ... it may become a thing of the past soon ... imagine?

Valentine Parties

Tuesday, February 14

Please check with your child's teacher for current class list and details for class party.

If party day is not your regular scheduled day you may come and join your child during party time. Please let your teacher know if you are planning to attend. Thank you.

Kindergarten News

ABC Chalkboard

We are excited to share that we have 20+ on our waiting list for the Knight's Class of 2013. We even have a waiting list for the next 2 years 2014 and 2015.

Please let your friends know we have a wonderful Christian kindergarten program. You can go to our website to get more details. Also you can talk to Mrs. Keira Craig for specific questions.

Emergency Sign-In/Out Sheet

A special thank you to those that have been signing your child in and out each day. Ms. Linda really appreciates your efforts in keeping your child accounted for each day.

State Licensing Surveyor can come at any time and check our records, so it's important we have your child signed in and out on the sheet as well as on the computer. Thanks!

Parent Volunteer Group Info Night

Wednesday, February 8, 5:30pm

Come and join the fun and learn how you can be a part of the events going on here at Trinity. We will also be planning this year's Dessert Fair.

Parent Coordinator, Nicole Larson (Adelyn & Emmie's mom) will host this meeting on Wednesday, February 8 5:30pm at TLC.

Campbell Soup Labels and Box Tops

The Kindergarten Knights really need more Campbell Soup Labels and Box Tops. They have 128 points so far but they are wanting 65,000. Please save them and bring them in. Tell family and friends!

They are working toward a di-cut machine. You can drop them off in the envelope hanging on the Child Care Center bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall, you can bring them into the Child Care Center, or you can place them into Donna Einspahr's mailbox in the mailroom of the church. Thank you for your support!

Bible Study

Tuesdays, beginning February 7

Here at Trinity from 6:00 - 6:50pm beginning, Tuesday, February 7th, the women will begin a 4 week Bible Study of Titus.

If you need child care during that time please let Donna know. Hope to see you there.

LUNCH REMINDERS

Lunch Reminder:
In the parent handbook it states that if your child brings a lunch that requires heating (soup, mac & cheese, etc), that you send it in a thermos already heated. They work great! Heating individual lunches in the microwave requires the teacher to leave her class table, minimizing supervision and her availability help with other children's needs. Thanks for your help in this area!

Toddler families: if you bring a sippy cup for lunch it MUST be labeled and taken home each day because we cannot wash/sanitize them.

Shaklee Products Give Back to TLC

Thanks to Parent Volunteer Group Coordinator, Nicole Larson, a percentage of your purchase of Shaklee products now comes back to TLC to benefit our programs! Products include Nutrition, Weight, Home Cleaning, Health & Beauty and more. Click the link below for more details and to order.

Congratulations Ms. Gianna!

We are so proud of Ms. Gianna! Not only do we know she an outstanding teacher, but the Soroptimis International of Carson City and Sally Landis Foundation has recognized her as a "mom and woman who has the ability to impact and improve the lives of so many others through education"!

They have awarded her a $5,000 scholarship to go towards her education. Gianna will be presented this award on February 14 at a special luncheon.

We LOVE Ms. Gianna! Congratulations, you deserve it!

Pastor Jim's Ponderings

Loving God

Dear brothers and sisters,

Grace, mercy and peace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
We normally associate the month of February with romantic love but what about loving God and loving one another as friends. As Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Have you ever thought about what it means to love God?

I believe Grandmother Howell can teach us about loving God and being a friend. Charles Colson in his book Loving God writes that Grandmother Howell lost her husband and sons and became depressed to the point of death. But it seems Jesus had more for her to do on this earth as He guided her to write the following letter to the Atlantic Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia ...

Shot Updates

All students must be up-to-date on their vaccinations. Those missing shots were given a notice January 16, 2012. Please bring in updated records, ASAP!

Licensing does come by to do spot checks of our records. Please help us to stay current. Also if there is any change in emergency phone numbers or pick-up people let us know that as well, before we need to make that emergency call. THANKS!

National Accreditation Update

We are continuing with our self-study in the accreditation process. Thank you to all the parents who returned their surveys earlier in the fall. We will be sending another one out in the spring. Your feedback is valuable.

The four key focus areas include:

  • Children - Relationships, Curriculum, Teaching, Assessment, and Health
  • Teaching Staff - Qualifications, knowledge and professional commitment
  • Partnerships with Family and Community - Families and Community Relationships
  • Leadership and Administration - Physical Environment and Leadership and Management

* A full detail of the standards can be reviewed on the Parent Board in the Lobby or if you want your own copy, please ask your child's teacher and we can get you a copy. We are excited about the process. Trinity is a great place for your child to grow and we are just taking it to the next level of quality.

We conducted a self-study tour of our facility. The team was made up of parents, Board members, and staff. In addition, the teaching staff have been working on their classroom portfolios to show evidence of meeting the standards to be achieved. We are very close in being able to send in our application. If you are interested in helping with this process at all, please let Ms. Laura or Ms. Donna know.
